Turn hours and minutes into an amount.
Check a time calculation before preparing your invoice. Enter hours, minutes and an hourly rate to see the decimal time and amount.
Decimal hours = whole hours + minutes ÷ 60. Multiply decimal hours by the hourly rate to calculate the amount. For example, 2 hours 30 minutes at $150 per hour equals 2.5 hours and $375.
Calculate hourly work
An arithmetic estimate in USD. No tax, expenses, minimum charge or billing increment is applied. The amount rounds to cents after calculating the full time value. Use the terms agreed with your client.
Common time conversions
| Minutes | Decimal hours |
|---|---|
| 6 | 0.10 |
| 15 | 0.25 |
| 30 | 0.50 |
| 45 | 0.75 |
| 60 | 1.00 |
The table shows exact conversions, not a recommendation to round your entries. For 20 minutes, use 20 ÷ 60 in your fee calculation rather than multiplying by a shortened decimal.

Common questions
Is 1 hour 30 minutes the same as 1.30 hours?
No. One hour 30 minutes is 1.5 decimal hours. A decimal value of 1.30 hours is 1 hour 18 minutes.
Does this calculator apply billing increments?
No. It calculates the exact entered duration and rounds the final USD amount to cents. Any agreed minimum or billing increment needs to be handled separately.
Are the numbers I enter sent to Billable?
The calculation runs in your browser. The calculator does not send the hours, minutes, hourly rate or result to Billable.
